Bad week...better weekend...

I had an awful week last week at work and I was so glad to see the back of that particular week.

Friday I wasn't initially in the mood to blow off any steam at home, I wanted to wallow in the events of the week and then just go to bed.  That would probably have been the worst thing for me after the stressful week and would probably have wallowed all weekend.  So I was thankful that the two wonderful friends I live with basically plied me with alcohol and let me moan about the week and blow off the steam, frustration and annoyance that had built up throughout.

Saturday...ouch! I had a hangover haha.  I haven't had one that bad for a long time.  Instead of just laying in my pit (my bed haha) I was up and out of the house by 9am and in the gym for 9:20am. I'm glad I went because it blew the cobwebs away, helped my hangover and helped keep me in shape.  What I didn't like...was the humongous blister on my heel...the irony is I was wearing anti-blister socks that were designed for my type of running shoe...don't think I'll be buying those socks again!!!

I had a conversation with my friend on Saturday and she said to me "Caite I can't believe you're  staying in on a Saturday night"...I asked her why and she went on to tell me that she hated being at home on a Saturday night and found it strange that at "my age" that I would be happy being at home on a Saturday. Maybe 2 years ago I would have agreed with her...but my life has changed somewhat in the last few years...don't get me wrong I love to go out and have a good time with friends and more often than not I will be out on a Saturday but...I'm in my mid-20s...I have a career, one that means a lot to me, it is a stressful job and there are weekends when I just want to enjoy being home and not having to put on make up, a dress or nice outfit and I can stay home and this...

I did go out for dinner last night but it was very low key and I was home before I knew and in my was. perfect...and much needed.

Although I relaxed on Saturday there are still a few things lingering in the back of my mind when it comes to work and when I'm feeling annoyed, frustrated and generally pissed off I have the "dangerous" need to spend money...even if there's nothing I actually want.  I don't know why because hammering my bank account on unnecessary purchases is only going to make me feel guilty and annoyed with myself (rather than the original thing I was annoyed about) once I've calmed down.

I met my Mama today, went for breakfast (my treat again...I'm not happy about this when I'm the only child and the stereotype is that only children are supposed to be spoilt hahaha.  After that we went shopping...and I bought a few things and gently hammered my bank account by buying toiletries, a couple of tops (one was in the sale so I had to buy another top with the money I'd saved right??? haha).  I was then looking round a department store and came across some new bed sheets that are so pretty...I got an absolute bargain...the set should have cost me £60 ($105) but I got them for just £18 ($31), the material is so nice and along with the new pillow I have for my style of sleeping (I'm a side sleeper) I cannot wait to go to bed tonight haha.

I have been looking forward to going to bed tonight that much that by mid afternoon I had had a shower and had my PJs on and  have been like that every since haha.

I've had the opportunity to do some cooking for the girls and I tonight for dinner...I made home made lamb and mint burgers topped with cheddar cheese, smoked bacon and sour cream.  I wasn't sure if all the flavours would work together but given the fact my friends demolished every single one I think the combination was a good one.  I last had a lamb burger in Gordon Ramsay's restaurant...and while I'm no professional chef, I like to think my homemade ones gave the one in his restaurant a run for its money haha.

Sadly it's the end of the weekend for me and it's back to work tomorrow :-(

International drinking weekend haha...

I am officially old...haha...I don't think I can handle two nights of drinking in a row...not only that but it was international drinking...two nights...two countries (Wales and England...that counts right?) haha.

Up until yesterday I spent a few days in Wales with my Dad, Step-Mama and my little brother and sister.  I took a few days off work to go and see them.

Wales, as always, is great.  It's great to be home and visiting family.  My siblings are at school today but it's the last day before the school holidays start.  My Dad was working so the most obvious thing for my Step-Mama and I to do when we have no restrictions...was go for breakfast...

I'll burn off the calories...I promise haha
...then we did a little shopping.  I bought a few things today for myself and I got some great deals. I needed some new running shoes for the gym and instead of paying £70 ($120) they were a bargain at £35 ($60).  They're specifically for people with my "foot arch type" which means my feet won't get sore...and they're a great colour too...

My bargain running shoes

Along with the shoes I also bought some new running socks to allow my feet to "breathe" and to reduce the risk of getting blisters...they were also a bargain...two pairs of  socks should have cost me £13 ($20) but I got them for £7 ($11)...

Clever socks that can breeeeeathe
The  socks are seriously comfy but I think  it's really cute that they have an L and R on each one of them but I only realised that when I had tried them on and I had them on the wrong feet haha.

The final purchase was a new iphone armband for when I'm working out...

This thing literally covers the top of my arm haha

Friday night my family and I went out for dinner because my brother and sister finished school for the summer and also got great school reports. After dinner I met up with my friend and we managed to sink three bottles of wine as we caught up as I hadn't had a time to get together with her for a while.  Our friendship is one of those where we can go months without seeing each other and just chat through messages or on the phone but as soon as we see each other it's like we have never been apart and we're gossiping a million miles a minute.

Saturday I returned home and even though I had a huge hangover in the morning I made it back in the afternoon...then I was out with the girls last night.  One of my friends came to my house and my housemate and I played hosts haha...we had a little drink and a few snacks before we went out...

pre-night out / afternoon snacks and drinks
After getting through the bottle in the picture above my housemate and I decided it would be funny to do a little photo trickery...yeah the alcohol was clearly starting to flow at this point haha...

Balancing my friend on the tip of my finger haha
Dinner was fantastic...we ate a lot of Italian food, drank wine and enjoyed a nice relaxing start to the night.  The weather night though started off pretty good, as you can see in my picture with Chloe there was even some sun...then the heavens opened and torrential rain, thunder storms and lightning took over.  The storms were terrible, one house near mine got struck by lightning resulting in it being set on fire, thankfully the family that live there were not home when it happened. We decided we were in the mood for some laughs and went to the Comedy Club again...I'm beginning to really love that place...last night I was laughing so hard that I had tears streaming down my face haha.

After the club we went to a few bars and had more drinks...

The drinks are a flowing...Chloe insisted on a strawberry on her glass in the bar like we had at home haha
I had a great night but even at my age I'm starting to feel old the bars were pretty full with 18-19 year olds...all looking fresh faced and being asked for ID.  I didn't get asked for ID at all...I clearly look old these days haha.

This morning I woke up feeling very tired and like I'd been hit over the head with a heavy object, I have been so lazy today.  I told myself I would be making it to the gym...hahahaha...who on earth was I kidding? I haven't moved all day other than to zip off to the supermarket to buy some chocolate and comfort food for the day to get over two nights of drinking...dinner is consisting of hot dogs with hot English mustard and tomato ketchup and I can't's the simple foods on a Sunday afternoon that are the best.

I am loving this song at the minute, I've never even heard of this particular group before but there's something about the song that makes me want to listen to it over and over again.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Finding the balance is easy right?

Sunday was just what I needed.  A day away from everything, no phone, no interruptions but a day of complete relaxation.  That could only mean one thing...a day at the spa.

It felt so good to walk around the spa in a big fluffy white bathrobe similar to this...

Not from today (obviously, because I was phone free) but big robes like this!!

So I had the robe on, bikini, hair up and the best bit...not a scrap of make up and I had a day of pure indulgence and pampering.  I had a facial on Sunday and a hot stone body massage.  I am sure I fell asleep throughout the massage for a few minutes.  It really was so good, I like to think I look something like this when I'm having a hot stone kind of massage haha...

but in reality I probably look like this haha...

Either way it was an amazing hour of pampering and I felt amazing when I came out of the treatment room.

I am becoming terrible at updating my blog.  I think I am writing at the wrong time of day because when I get home from work I am way too tired to even think about writing but when I'm driving to work or sat at my desk I always think about things which I think would be funny or good to write the time I get home...I have no interest in writing.  I have been blogging about 2.5 years now and where I had more time before I find myself so incredibly busy with trying to achieve the perfect work / life balance due to my work taking up a lot of my time.

I'm hoping to reclaim some of the 'life' part of my balance and I have decided to take a few days off work and go visit my Dad and family at home in my beloved Wales.  I always love going home to the place I was born.  My Dad's home is the perfect place...quiet, peaceful, in the countryside but not too far from the hustle and bustle of a city if I wanted to go do something.  I'm honestly looking for some time away, there are times when I think I get consumed in the life I lead here with work and constantly being on the go that it's the best therapy ever going to see him, my Step Mum and siblings and be surrounded by tranquillity. Tomorrow is my last day at work for a few days (yippeeeeee!!!) and I am so happy about it haha.

Cymru yma yr wyf yn dod ... yn dda mewn ychydig o ddyddiau (Just a little bit of Welsh) haha

I'm being stalked... the Police!!

Seriously every time I get in my car no matter how long or short the journey is I see a police car...but it's not just one car.  The other day when I was driving home which was just a 20-30 minute journey I saw 5 different police cars including a riot van and a police dog van.  They pretty much had my whole journey mapped out with police cars.  It's not just one occasion, I see at least 3 cars on every journey.  I have convinced myself that the police secretly planted a tracker on the underside of my car so that they can trace my every move.  Why? I have no idea...I openly admit I'm not the best driver but I don't think I've broken any's just weird that in the last week they've been everywhere I have haha.  It kinda freaks me out the more times I see them because I'm one of those people who automatically feels guilty when they see a police car even though I've done nothing I'm thinking of walking everywhere now haha.

It's been a while since all the girls were in the office but today was one of those days, our manager was out of the office (not that that bothers us or stops us from doing silly things).  A few of us were talking about movies and we got onto the movie Pitch Perfect...I love that movie as does one of my besties in the office.  That led to us doing a little bit of our own Acapella and singing the songs from the movie.  That had people laughing away so my friend you tubed a couple of the songs and we then decided to amuse everyone else and started singing and dancing as though we were in the movie...we sang and danced to this...

Then this one...

And the last one...

...aaaaaand at the 2 minute 50 second mark where "Fat Army" is singing and boss' boss walked through the door to talk to me about one of my cases...I was doing the same dance as "Fat Amy"...this is not the first time he has walked in to me singing and dancing away haha...his reaction...he just laughed at me and said "at least someone is happy at work"!!  Whoooops!! haha's almost the weekend...and I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
