Six Word Saturday

I haven't had a chance to participate in this for a couple of weeks but I'm's Saturday and it's time for...

It's almost April and we have had about 6 inches of snow fall overnight which means that the country will pretty much come to a stand still.  It's pretty frustrating because we are not a country that deals with snow and adverse weather conditions very well.

Last night we managed to go out and celebrate my best friend handing in her Masters dissertation but it was a bit of a stress getting home because of the snow.  Cab drivers are not keen to stray too far from the city centre when the snow is falling so finding a cab driver that is prepared to drive to our home is definitely quite the task at times.  Thankfully we found a nice cab driver and managed to get home.

I have woken up this morning and we have had more snow and it looks like there's going to be continuing snow for the rest of the day.  Our drive is not completely flat, the last part of the drive (the bit that connects to the road) goes upwards and so in snow trying to get the cars off the drive is not worth the hassle.  we also live at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and to get to the end of the street it is up just know that there's no way we are getting cars up there today!!

So today is a stay at home day!  It's pretty annoying because I had so much planned for today.  I had some running around to do to buy a few things, I needed some things to go in a package I needed to send through the mail.  I also wanted to buy a yoga mat and skipping rope this weekend too.  Not that I can use the skipping rope at the minute because of the silly snow haha.

I'm so done with the rubbish weather.  It's officially spring time and we should not be getting snow now haha.

I have been out to try and do a few errands and I took a couple of pictures, I'm not sure they do the amount of snow justice but then again it might actually show that a few inches of snow brings the country pretty much to a standstill...

Isn't it spring?  I can't see the green leaves

Usually this road has a looooot of traffic on it

This is my car and the amount of snow that fell just last night

My car is going nowhere today.

I see you...

...with the help of contact lenses or glasses!!  Not quite the same as the song (I see you baby, shaking that ass, shaking that ass....haha) but it kinda fits so I'm going with it anyway.

Next month I am taking the brave (scary and possibly silly) step to no longer needing contact lenses or glasses.  That's right I'm having laser eye surgery.  I had my assessment a couple of weeks ago and was told that I was suitable for the surgery.  I was quoted £3190 for the Lasik Intralase Wavefront surgery, the woman blinded (excuse the pun haha) me with lots of scientific information and NASA information to try and convince me it was the right move.  She didn't have to bother with the bombarding of information, I had already set my mind on having the surgery.

I got a discount of almost £1000 and the cost is now £2295, still expensive but definitely better. I was told that the whole surgery process would take just 10 minutes...crazy to think that it takes 10 minutes to correct my eyes.  After the surgery I have to stay in the clinic for 2-3 hours and then I'll be allowed home and need just two days off work and I'll be able to see clearly within hours or so of the operation.

The woman had mentioned about watching the video on the company's website to see the surgery in progress.  I just googled it and I got about 10 seconds into the surgery video and I got a little bit squeamish and had to stop it.  I think it's best for me if I don't know what happens to me before the actual surgery and maybe after I've had the surgery and I can see clearly I'll actually watch the video and find out what process I went through.  I'm much better with the process of the unknown when it comes to things like that haha.

I am really excited about the prospect of my eyes being corrected and not being reliant on contact lenses or glasses, I'm also really quite nervous about it all.

I did ask the technician if I would go blind throughout the surgery...he laughed at me (I don't blame him because the tone in which I asked him was quite amusing).  His response after laughing at me was..."you'd be the first person to go blind if you did"...I joked to my friend and the technician that it would be just my luck that I would be the first person to go blind from eye surgery!!!!

There's a few more weeks before I have laser watch this space on how it goes haha

Geeeeeeks!!! haha

On the Police radar???

I have finally recovered from the weekend.  I'm not Irish but like so many people I celebrated St Patrick's Day over the weekend.

Saturday I went out with the girls and I had a fun time.  Funny story before the night really friend who wasn't drinking was parking her car and I went to the meter to pay for the parking.  As I was stood there a guy asked me how much it was to park.  I told him and he went back to his car and his friends.  A few seconds later as I was walking back to my friends car one of the guys went to pay to park and the first guy that actually spoke to me asked me what it was like.  Totally confused I asked him what what was like?  He said what's it like here in the city on a night out, we have never been here before.  I told him what it was like and said good things about the city and was getting ready to walk away from the conversation.  His friend then asked the guy speaking to me if he had 10pence because he didn't want to put another £1 coin in the meter for the sake of 10 pence.  So being the nice person I am I gave him 10 pence from the change I had in my hand.  He thanked me and said "if I see you in the bars I'll give you your 10 pence back".  I laughed and assured him it was fine and I could stand the 10 pence.  At this point the guy asking me what the city was like invited me for a drink with the three guys.  I thanked them and said no thank you I'm with my friend and we were meeting other people....nice situation right? to be invited for drinks with guys, I am single after would be a lovely situation...if these guys hadn't been old enough to be my Father hahaha.
My friends got a good kick out of the story that the men I'm attracting are old enough to be my Dad haha.

Regardless of that it was a fun night and it was nice to be out with the girls.

Saturday night's outfit

Me and one of my besties

Sunday started with me going to the gym to work on my bikini body for the summer haha.  Then it was a bit of a relaxing morning and early afternoon.  Then Chloe and I went out for a late lunch.  It was a nice relaxing time and we enjoyed some calamari and then we ordered two pizzas and split them so we could half and half it.  We're like an old married couple haha.

Food was great but my face is saying something else

Old married couple - love this girl

She loves to pose haha

Maybe I do too haha

Somehow I was easily influenced and it was a quick change and back out again last night to celebrate St Patrick's Day with some more friends.  I had a few drinks and a lot of fun.

Today started off slow because I was so tired.  I was out and about for work today and I swear the Police have a radar on my car haha.  Everywhere I seem to go recently there is a Police car not too far behind or far away haha.  I must have seen about 10 Police cars today haha.  I must have also crashed into a LOT of invisible buses today on the motorway with the amount of drivers sat in the middle lane of the motorway overtaking absolutely...NOTHING!!! I'm pretty laid back but that is one thing that frustrates me. Now it's time to reeeeeeeeeeelax!

I bet they couldn't have a zoo in there

This is my 3rd possibly my 4th attempt at writing this blog and every time I start it I never really progress with it haha.

I can't believe it's been over a week since I last wrote a blog post.  The last week has gone by so quickly because things have been a little hectic.

Last weekend I went for dinner with friends and then to an event at the "most versatile venue", although I can assure you there is nothing versatile about the venue haha.  We were sat eating dinner laughing about the name of the venue and being silly saying "it can't be the most versatile venue because I bet they couldn't hold a rodeo in there" or "I bet they couldn't have a zoo in there". We found it funny but I think it was one of those times when you had to be there to find it funny and I think you had to see the venue to understand why we were making fun of it.  I wish I had taken a picture to put on here.

Sunday we had a visitor in the shape of my housemates brother, his wife and their little 4 month old baby boy.  Yup you've guessed it, being all girls in my house we went all googly eyed and girlie at the sight of a baby in the house haha. I definitely got my fair share of cuddles and giggles with the didn't make me too broody juuuust yet though haha.

This week at work has been busy but fun too.  Our team had been a little dysfunctional for a while with some spats amongst members and with a change in Manager at the start of the year but things seem to be more settled and we are starting to work better as a team.

We've also had our house re-decorated this week. Rather than taking it one room at a time we have had the house done all at once so the house has been in dis-array from having to move everything around the house.
My room was decorated yesterday and thankfully I was able to put the majority of my stuff back in its place and after work today I put the final bits and pieces in their way.  It's nice to have order back in my room and house.

It's Friday night and I'm having a nice relaxing night.  I'm watching TV with my friends, it's Comic Relief night / Red Nose Day

This is a huge fundraising event that happens every 2 years and has been taking place since 1985. There's always a TV show on from around 7pm until the early hours with celebrities doing silly / fun / serious things to raise as much money as possible.  Early tonight the singer Jessie J shaved all her hair off to raise money for  the charity.

As with any telethon there are a number of heart breaking videos that show you the good work that the charity does but also the areas of the UK and Africa that the charity is trying to help and what is still to do to make the lives of people better.  As always that means they are heart wrenching and I cried!  It devastates me seeing children in the world suffering in the way they do.  Hearing the story that a Mother was given a bag to carry her dead child home in a taxi because the taxi drivers would allow her in their taxi's if they didn't is absolutely devastating and horrible.  Those words don't do those kind of things and tragic circumstances justice.

Me and Coco all snuggled up watching Comic Relief

So busy...

It's been a busy week this week and I haven't had much time to blog, tweet or even instagram very much haha.

I'm looking forward to the weekend and getting the chance to relax.  It's been a bit of a tough time recently but things are getting better and I am looking forward to finishing work early tomorrow and start the weekend early.

My job is tough and while I have a good sense of humour and positive attitude to my work in order to get me through the situations I see and involved in within work. However, there are times when it takes its toll and some time away from the office and away from my job is desperately needed even if it's just for a few hours and a long weekend.  I have great work friends who understand and experience the same stresses as me but some time away is needed.  I have no plans for my afternoon off work tomorrow but I know that my phone will be switched off!! I had a day off last Friday and I got THREE work calls in the space of 2 hours on my personal number, so I told my manager I wasn't accepting the morning as time off haha.

After my trip the other week I haven't been listening to my iphone to and from work in the car and have been listening to the radio more.  This is a short blog hopefully I'll more to write this weekend but until then I'll end my blog with a song. This song is everywhere at the minute and I am totally loving it and loving Emeli Sande.

Hapus Dydd Gwyl Dewi...

Hapus Dydd Gwyl Dewi

Today is St David's Day! St David is the Patron Saint of Wales!

Anyone reading my blog will know I am proud of my Welsh heritage so I couldn't let this day go by without writing a blog post.

I wrote a blog post a year ago about St David's day and I've just looked at it and I'm of the same opinion as I was last year...where has the time gone already??  January was a relatively quick month but it dragged a little but then February has just whizzed by and now we are in March.  That means it's only 9 months until my birthday haha.

A few quick facts about Wales:

Wales is known as Cymru (pronounced Kum-ree)

The number of sheep in Wales is three times greater than the population of Welsh People

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch is the name of a town in North Wales and is believed to be the longest place/town name in the world and translates into "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio’s of the red cave"

Some famous people from Wales include Richard Burton, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Tom Jones, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Shirley Bassey.

The letters K, Q, V and Z do not appear in the Welsh alphabet at all

Wales is believed to have more castles per square mile than anywhere else in the world.

Only 21% of the entire Welsh population of Wales can speak the native language (me included haha)

Wales is the only part of the UK not to be represented on the Union Flag (Union Jack)

The Welsh Flag is:

The Daffodil - The National Flower of Wales

The Leek - National Symbol of Wales

Red Dragon - Another National Symbol of Wales

Happy Welsh Girl! AKA...ME haha

I hope everyone has had a great day and week and enjoys the weekend :-)
